About

"Ibaan Ifiọk" pronounced [ee-ban-ih-fih-yok] is Ibibio for "women of wisdom"

From the beginning of time, women in Africa have been the pillars of their communities and society at large. African women serve as the reservoir of knowledge for their communities ultimately bridging gaps between home and marketplace, between cities and villages and between past histories and future lives. They are the heartbeat of the society-the pivot on which it balances, rotates and evolves. The state of Africa depends solely on the state of its women. Research has shown that an investment in the lives of women and girls, is an investment in the future of the human race. As such, programs that focus and engage young girls to be empowered is essential for efforts to improve their lives now and in the future.

Hence, Iban Ifiok was founded.

We are a community and safe space for girls ages 12-19 years old.

Mission & Vision

The mission of Iban Ifiok is to enlighten girls on their significance in society and show them their potential for absolute greatness while infusing the essence of community- a major characteristic of African culture. We inspire, motivate, and support African girls.

Our vision is to improve the livelihood of Africans by cultivating QUEENS one girl at a time.

A queen is a woman of substance. Rather than sit and wait to be praised, she uses her gifts and talents to improve her community. Through our free empowerment workshops and community outreach programs we cultivate queens who will grow to build their communities in the future.
