In line with the International Women's Day Campaign 2023 Theme: Embrace Equity, Iban Ifiok joined the rest of the world in celebrating women's power and its impact on our communities on March 25th, 2023, with the theme "Count Yourself In."
"Count Yourself In" was a structured program designed to dissect the concepts of equality and equity to have an inclusive world for our queens.
Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances,one should allocate the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome. While equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources and opportunities.
The program's purpose was to showcase that equity is all around us and matters everywhere we go. Some queens come from different backgrounds, some live in local communities, some are better off than others, and some have younger siblings they look after even at adolescent age.
Equity is not just something we say. It's not something we write about. It's something we need to think about, know, value, and embrace.
It's what we believe in unconditionally. Equity means creating an inclusive world.
The March edition of the Iban Ifiok meet-up ended with the queens understanding that the equity journey begins by counting themselves in! No matter the situation, the girls know their voices, opinions, experiences, and viewpoints matter. They can actively count themselves in to forge their path to ensure that it is the right fit for them.
We are Iban Ifiok. We are getting bigger and better!
