Upon arriving in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria we visited two secondary schools in Ikot Oku Ikono and Ikot Idaha/Ibiaku Ikot Edet. Here, 200 students were given feminine care products, school products and Empower Her messages. Our second annual workshop was held on Saturday, June 22, 2019. We catered to over 50 young Queens within the age range of 12-17. Some of them residing in the Uyo area of Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, as well as attended school in this area.
The theme of this year’s workshop “I Can, I Will”, explored how to bounce back from the unexpected setbacks that we experience in life. The various workshop activities stressed the importance of self-love in a young queen’s journey to discovering herself. Our brilliant guest speaker urged the girls to maximize their resources, as well as their various talents. This workshop helped teach our queens how to take charge of their personal brand as well as how to think more creatively and strategically about their abilities.
At the end of the workshop, each Queen received a certificate of completion, a care package including feminine hygiene products, school supplies and a personalized Empower Her Message. The Empower Her message that you wrote was able to uplift, inspire and encourage the spirit of a young Queen. Your words of wisdom have made a great impact on their young minds and we are grateful that you were able to share these words with us.
